We
take a long time to develop. Our growth, physically and mentally
happens slowly. Seeing, thinking and doing makes us smarter. We
discuss, debate and deliberate on all the issues important to our
development. Thus our minds mature.
Humans have wandered this planet for a long time picking up knowledge
and knowhow, and passing it down to their kids. Much of this wisdom was
put into short, memorable sayings called: proverbs, aphorisms, axioms
etc.
Discuss Debate Deliberate is a carefully selected collection of the
best of these with expansions and explanations. This provides an
excellent starting point to deliberate (think carefully) then discuss
or debate your own opinions on a huge variety of topics.
It is also a good source of ideas for writing essays or articles.
Reading this enlightening book gives you a stock of ideas and opinions
to guide you in many ways. You will find some examples of how to apply
this to your own life situation.
Excerps from this book are currently used in American school classes as
discussion papers.
Pupils gain from thinking about the ideas concentrated in a saying
before discussing and debating their opinions. This improves
comprehension, grasp of good English, debating skills, and gives a
strong boost to self-esteem.

In "Advice to His Children"
(1699) William Penn tells them: "The Wisdom of Nations lies in their
Proverbs, which are brief and pithy. Collect and learn them... They are
notable measures and directions for human life. You have Much in
Little; they save time and speaking, and on occasion may be the fullest
and safest answers."
"It is a good thing for an uneducated man to read books of
quotations.... The quotations when engraved upon the memory give you
good thoughts."-- Winston Churchill.
